The canvases show a house with windows and the red and grey planes of its facade. Andriana worked the second canvas with a gas burner, and the open flame burned away part of the surface.
Home here is both a shelter and a target. Nobody painted the threat on this work: the fire really touched the canvas.
About the series
Five diptychs from 2024. Each has two canvases: one is left intact, and Andriana damaged the other with a real instrument of destruction: a shotgun, fire, a cleaver, a hammer or a knife. The series grew out of the experience of war and is a reminder that everything can change in an instant. It has been shown at the European Parliament, the Design Museum of Barcelona and Lviv railway station.
